An update on Explaining Crime's posting schedule for the next week... or maybe two...
TL;DR A medical issue has thrown my schedule out of whack at the same time I was reconsidering 7a.m. posts; Your First Five will go out early afternoons; What I Do is taking a break [SEE UPDATE]
Hey Friends,
I walked from the van to the medical imaging clinic this morning with the help of a walking stick. It’s not a cane, but a new extending hiking pole I haven’t used on a trail yet. If things don’t get better, trails aren’t in my near future.
A week or so back, I did something to my back and seem to have pinched a nerve. Cue pain shooting along my left hip and down the back of that leg. Cue doctor’s appointments, the walking stick, and X-rays.
That’s time and attention consuming. Combined with my chronic health issues, this whole thing has really done me in.
Perhaps related, I’ve been thinking about the posting schedule for this newsletter, particularly Your First Five (most recent post here). Daily at 7 a.m. EST might be good for some subscribers, but maybe not for others.
For the next week (at least), I’m going to try sending Your First Five in the early afternoon, with a target of 3 p.m. EST. If reading stats improve, we’ll stay with that time.
On the other hand, What I Do (most recent post here) is going on a short hiatus while I catch up with the behind-the-scenes work that keeps it going.
I have not forgotten about the series I started a few weeks back on using the scientific literature of crime (first post here). The second post is in progress.
Best,
Aaron
[UPDATE: The recent chaotic publishing schedule will continue until at least June.]
